Student Profile: Ryan Reif
Eurotech is a fantastic way to have an untypical college experience. There are so
many new engineers per year, but there are only a few students who have intercultural
experience in life and especially in the workplace. One positive aspect of the
Eurotech program is its participants. The Eurotech students are seemingly more
devoted and studious than the regular engineer. This might just be a biased
observation, but when there is more at stake, people generally devote more effort
to accomplish what must be done. It was always helpful for me when I heard other
Eurotech students talk about how busy they were with their schoolwork. Without this
program, my two majors would have been more difficult for me to complete.
One especially important reason for me as a student in his ninth semester at a
technical German university is the diversity of offered engineering classes.
There were about 150 choices that I could browse through in order to choose
the classes which fitted me the best. Outside of the classroom, my experiences
in Germany have been good. I have had many opportunities to speak with people
from all over the world and to go on daytrips with them as well. One thing that
I have found out inside and outside of the classroom is that I have learned more
about the countries in every continent while I have been in Germany for three
months than I have learned about them in my entire life.
