Bioinformatics Minor Program

Undergraduate students enrolled in the Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Environmental Engineering, Management & Engineering for Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science & Engineering are eligible to pursue a minor in Information Technology. A total of 15 credits, including two required courses (CE 211 Applied Mechanics I and CSE 254 Discrete Structure) and three elective, upper-level CSE (or equivalent) courses, is required.

Students wishing to minor in Bioinformatics must take at least 15 credits of coursework in Bio-Computing/Computer Science, Data Banks/Statistics, Protein Structure/Biochemistry, and Genetics. A single course cannot fulfill more than one group requirement. Credits used to satisfy minimum requirements for the student's major may not also be used toward the 15 credits for the Bioinformatics minor, although such courses may be used to satisfy one of the group requirements, where appropriate.
