Information Technology Minor Program
The minor program in Information Technology addresses a growing corporate demand for engineers with strong information technology skills. There is an increasing need for practicing engineers who have both strong discipline-specific technical knowledge and substantial competency in information technology. The minor program in Information Technology is intended to expose non-CSE majors to algorithm and data-structure design, software engineering tools and practices, and relevant numerical methods skills to address large, complex computational problems.
Undergraduate students enrolled in the Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Environmental Engineering, Management & Engineering for Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science & Engineering are eligible to pursue a minor in Information Technology. A total of 15 credits, including two required courses (CE 211 Applied Mechanics I and CSE 254 Discrete Structure) and three elective, upper-level CSE (or equivalent) courses, is required.
